How to begin? How to participate in the call for applicants?

  1. Be aware! Constantly check your institutional email. There, you will receive all the pertinent information regarding meetings, dates for applying, universities that are offering calls for students, etc.
  2. Attend the informative meetings. Conferences are offered every semester before the formal calls for applicants which allow you to know about the process, become aware of the profiles of each of the partner universities and resolve any doubts you may have about your student exchange. Generally, these take place during the first few weeks of class of each semester.
  3. Consult the webpages of the partner universities, review their study programs, speak with students of the foreign university who are studying in Externado, get in touch with students who have already done their student exchange in the places that interest you, read reports, etc.
  4. Choose your destination options. Which do you prefer? Do you prefer to study in Spanish or in another language? Stay in Latin America or go to another continent? Do you prefer a large or small university? Private or public? Do you prefer a specialized institution or one that has studies in all areas? Do you prefer a place with many or few foreigners? A simple student exchange or a double-major program?

Do not get in touch with the student exchange offices of the partner universities in this moment. The Student Exchange Office of the Universidad Externado de Colombia will resolve your questions.

Call for Applicants

The call is done each semester. They open the second week of classes and are open for two weeks. During this time, the student should fill out the candidate application form online and send the following documents to the Student Exchange Office:

–a photo

–a copy of the exam results of the language required.

–your GPA available on the webpage (screenshot)

As soon as the call for applicants is closed, the exchange committee shall proceed to select the candidates and to assign the available admissions based on the academic GPA and the level of proficiency in the target language. Afterward, it will publish a list of the selected students who will subsequently receive guidance for the preparing their candidacy to the foreign university.
