Transmilenio

The Transmilenio (Empresa de Transporte del Tercer Milenio S. A.) is the city mass public transportation system that runs throughout the city, on trunk roads and connects the Transmilenio system stations and portals.

To reach the Externado University by Transmilenio, one must take a trunk route to the “Eje Ambiental” or Carrera 7. In the first case, the stations are “Las Aguas” or “Universidades,” connected by a tunnel.

Specifically, on the north side of the Universidades station, the Externado has available, exclusively for the academic community, the «Tu Ruta» service, which takes students and staff from this station to the campus and vice versa. Presenting your university id is essential.

Additionally, it is possible to take the Carrera 7 trunk road to the National Museum station.  A few blocks from the station, on the South side of the Plaza de Toros Santa María, (Bullring), the University transportation service for students and staff is available during the academic season.

The above route makes an additional stop at the Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada Convention Center, located at Carrera 13 and 28th street, where you can also take the van to the campus.

The Transmilenio trip rate applies when entering the stations or portal turnstiles and the turnstiles of the SITP Zonal buses (Urban, Auxiliary, and Special). Everyone entering must have on hand their prepaid System Card (this can be accomplished at the ticket office located at each station).

The fare for mainline services is $2,200 all day, and $2,000 for zonal services.
