Estudiantes FIGRI
What does a student exchange consist of?
The Faculty of Finance, Government and International Relations has an unquestionable international vocation. Given the areas of studies focused on the international system, the Faculty has naturally become a leader in the globalization process of Colombia over the last 20 years.
Studying in a foreign university during one or two semesters represents a marvelous opportunity for FIGRI students to take advantage of. The field of study encourages students to welcome learning from other perspectives and points of view and to understand other cultures and other forms of thinking in the world. We consider that to travel and study abroad is also another form of learning and an exceptional source of knowledge.
FIGRI is one of the most dynamic faculties in terms of student exchanges and offers numerous options to go abroad and study for one or two semesters. In total, the student can do two semesters of exchange. These do not necessarily need to be consecutive nor do they need to be done in the same institution (for example, a student can do their eighth semester in the UNAM in Mexico, come back and do their ninth semester in Colombia and then take their tenth semester in Sciences Po Paris).
During the exchange, the student shall homologate subjects that they would have taken in FIGRI (provided that they pass these in the foreign university). This way, the student does not fall behind on their study syllabus and they continue to be an active student in the Faculty during their period of exchange.
All students who meet the following criteria may participate?
Todos los estudiantes que cumplen con los siguientes criterios:
1Be taking sixth semester as a minimum to apply (a student can do their student exchanges as of their seventh semester).
2Have had no disciplinary breaches during their studies.
3Not be behind on any subjects or credits.
4Fulfill the language requirements demanded for each case by the destination university. If the university of destination requires that the student present an official language exam, the student must have taken said exam in the moment of applying.
When can students apply?
The Internationalization Area of the University has two calls for applicants per year (one each semester). The calls for students generally open three weeks to one month after the start of classes. Students are duly informed of the dates of these calls for applicants through their institutional email accounts and through the webpage of the university.
Students should present their applications during the semester immediately preceding the one in which they wish to carry out the student exchange.
