Maite Mariño Thompson

Maite was born in Bogotá; her mother is American and her father is Colombian. Maite lived in Colombia during her childhood years and moved to Seattle, WA in the United States where she finished high school. Maite went to the Evergreen State College in Washington State where she obtained a BA degree in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in multicultural studies. She later obtained a Specialization degree in Management Skills from the University of Washington and worked in an NGO for a few years before moving back to Bogotá in 1998.
In 2005 she obtained a CELTA certification CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Cambridge Assessment when she started her career as an English teacher. She´s been working at Externado University since January 2006, first as an English teacher and later as a language coordinator. Most recently, in 2017, she obtained an MA in Educational Leadership from the University of Roehampton in London, UK.
In her free time, Maite enjoys horseback riding, hiking, cooking and spending time with family.
