Los Cerros Orientales, imponentes ante los ojos, son un ícono geográfico de nuestra ciudad. Los vemos a lo lejos, como seres dormidos que nos hablan y escuchan.

Esto lo supo expresar en 2017 Germán Ferro, curador para el Museo de BogotĂĄ de la exposiciĂłn ÂOriĂŠntate, los cerros son nuestro norteÂ: un recorrido sensorial que revela las caracterĂsticas naturales, patrimoniales y de ocupaciĂłn cultural por parte de las comunidades cercanas a ellos, que ahora estarĂĄ disponible (de manera parcial) en la Biblioteca de la Universidad Externado de Colombia.

La muestra estĂĄ conformada por un perfil de 11.2 metros (reproducciĂłn), elaborado por el Colectivo BogotĂĄ Pinta Cerros mediante la tĂŠcnica de acuarela sobre papel. En ĂŠl se descubre, segĂşn lo expresado en el catĂĄlogo (otra de las piezas exhibidas): ÂLa memoria contenida de las montaĂąas, sus antiguos caminos, su toponimia, rĂos y vegetaciĂłn, en la infinita escala de lo pequeĂąo y en la inmensidad de la cordillera, lo que da como fruto una experiencia estĂŠtica conmovedoraÂ.

La selecciĂłn tambiĂŠn incluye una perspectiva fotogrĂĄfica de BogotĂĄ vista desde los cerros y un compendio de voces que describen lo que significa habitar los Cerros Orientales, que se complementa con una actividad participativa, desarrollada por el grupo que adelantĂł la adaptaciĂłn museogrĂĄfica para nuestra Casa de Estudios.

El prĂłximo 21 de septiembre, desde las 11:00 a.m., se llevarĂĄ a cabo el evento inaugural, en el que se invitarĂĄ a los asistentes a realizar un viaje por la geologĂa y la piel de las imponentes montaĂąas, consideradas sagradas por nuestros antepasados.

The Cerros Orientales (Eastern Hills), towering before our eyes, are a geographical icon of our city. We view them in the distance, as sleeping beings that talk and listen to us.

The above was expressed, in 2017, by Germán Ferro, curator of the BogotĂĄ Museum, referring to the exhibit ĂÂŤGet your bearings; the hills are our North.ĂÂť A sensory journey revealing the natural, economic, and cultural occupation characteristics of the communities close to them -Â now (partially) available at the Externado de Colombia University Library.

The sampling consists of a profile of 11.2 meters (reproduction), produced by the Collective BogotĂĄ Pinta Cerros using watercolor on paper technique. In it, one can discover, as stated in the catalog (another of the exhibited pieces): ĂÂŤThe memory contained in the mountains, its old paths, its toponymy, rivers, and vegetation, in the infinite scale of the small and the vastness of the mountain range, resulting in a moving aesthetic experience.ĂÂť

The selection also includes a photographic perspective of BogotĂĄ, viewed from the hills, and a compendium of voices describing what it means to inhabit the Eastern Hills, complemented by a participatory activity, developed by the group that carried out the Museum adaptation for our House of Studies.

The inauguration will be held September 21, 2018, starting at 11:00 am, where attendees will be invited to take a trip through the geology and skin of the imposing mountains, considered sacred by our ancestors.
