Short bio

Dr. Kotz is a lifelong learner with education and business expertise. This includes working as faculty and advisor with undergraduate, graduate students and since 2013, in two doctoral programs in leadership. Kotz has taught and served as an executive coach to graduate students and business professionals; and has assisted high school students in navigating adolescence. He is a resident of Saint Paul, Minnesota and continues to collect new experiences that shape and challenge his perspectives. In 2018, he released «Something Happened Today» – a book that addresses seeing the good each day, facing difficulties and adversity with hope and compassion. Subsequent books – Profiles in Kindness” (2020) and “Start Late – Finish Happy” (2021) have received Reader’s Choice Awards.

Kotz serves as director of the Doctorate of Business Administration program and currently teaches in the Doctorate in Leadership program: Ethics, Organizational Development & Effectiveness, Strategies for Adult Learning Theory, and Statistical Research Methods. He brings practical decision tools and discussion to assisting in creating leadership opportunities and dealing with difficult situations that we all face in our organizations. Prior to his teaching career, he was a reinsurance actuary in both life and property casualty insurance. He also served as a manager for customer service at North American Life and Casualty prior to his education pursuits, and director for General Education at Anoka Hennepin Technical College.
