For 2019, the main purpose of these working sessions will be to carry out interdisciplinary studies and to produce working papers based on the conclusions of the work. There will also be reports of the sessions and eventually audiovisual material will be available as a result of conferences, podcasts, master classes, debates, etc.
- Seminar on Measuring Development in Colombia
The Observatory of Development and Social Policy (ODEPS) invites you to be part of the new Development Measurement Research Group in Colombia in which we hope to:
- Familiarize students with household surveys conducted by DANE (GEIH, ENCV and ENUT).
- Outline the different development measures used in the country.
- Introduce the student to the Stata programming for the creation of these indicators.
- Introduce tax and transfer microsimulation models as a tool for policy formulations that improve income distribution.
Benefits of the Seedling
- Understand and thoroughly manipulate the surveys conducted by DANE.
- Use and correctly interpret the development indicators used in Colombia.
- The student will be able to produce a research paper which will be published in the ODEPS website.
- COLMOD intersemester course
In this course students will have the opportunity to learn how to carry out micro tax and transfer simulation models as a tool to formulate policies that improve income distribution.
Poverty, inequality, and social policy bulletin
Based on the COLMOD microsimulation model of taxes and transfers, and in alliance with the consulting firm Inclusión, a biannual bulletin will be produced to disseminate the results of microsimulations carried out with the purpose of evaluating the effects of public policies on poverty and inequality. The bulletin will also include an analysis of the current situation and general social policy recommendations.
Follow-up to the National Development Plan
Based on the National Development Plan (NDP) and with special emphasis on social policy, this report will present an economic, social, legal, and institutional analysis.
Research product
