Protected areas in Colombia and their contributions to socio-economic development

The Environmental Law Department selected as the focal point of its 2017 Research Group the theme "Legal analysis of the protected areas in Colombia and their contributions to socio-economic development."

The conservation, protection, restoration, and sustainable use of these areas are conditions that should be guaranteed, not only by Government entities, but also civil society and, of course, the Academia.

For this reason, the research project will have two components.  First, a cycle of conferences held throughout the year called «The importance of protected areas in Colombia and their contributions to socio-economic development.» Second, a joint publication with the University of Zaragoza, Spain, containing an analysis of the legal framework of these areas with an important Comparative Law component.
