Despu�s de 20 a�os de graduarse, externadista volvi� a su Casa de Estudios

Es tanto el cari�o con el que los(as) externadistas recuerdan a la Universidad que, despu�s de varias d�cadas, vuelven a visitarla para revivir momentos, reencontrarse con profesores y ver cu�nto ha crecido su alma m�ter.

Patricia Mart�nez Manotas recibió su título de abogada de la Facultad de Derecho hace 20 años. El maestro Fernando Hinestrosa (Q.E.P.D); el Rector, Hernando Parra Nieto; y la Decana de la Facultad, Emilssen González de Cancino, fueron algunos de los(as) profesores que guiaron el camino profesional de esta abogada.

Tras 20 años de vivir fuera del país, Martínez visitó el campus universitario, conoció los edificios nuevos, recorrió los coloridos jardines y se reencontró con algunos colegas y profesores que aún están en la Universidad.

Se siente increíble volver. Es una sensación de nostalgia, pero a la vez de emoción, de ver que hay cosas nuevas, que la Universidad ha evolucionado muchísimo. Lo que más me impresiona es que los edificios son nuevos, pero hay algo que te hace sentir en casa. Lograron captar ese espíritu que uno sintió hace 20 años, afirmó Patricia.

Después de graduarse como abogada, Patricia se fue a estudiar a Boston, ahí conoció a quien ahora es su esposo; juntos se mudaron a México y tuvieron dos hijas. Actualmente, ella forma parte de la junta directiva de la empresa colombiana UP Sistemas, un negocio de tecnología fundado por su mamá hace más de 30 años, del cual dependen aproximadamente 1.000 personas.

Para mí y para mi mamá es muy satisfactorio poder aplicar todo lo que aprendiste a una empresa familiar, que se ha construido a pulso y que le ofrece algo al país, comentó la abogada.

Externadista Returns to the University 20 Years After Graduating

The affection with which Externadistas remember the University is so great, that after many decades, they even return to visit. They want to relive old times, reconnect with their former professors, and see how much their alma mater has grown.

Patricia Martinez was awarded her law degree by the Faculty of Law 20 years ago. Professor Fernando Hinestrosa (RIP), the Rector, Hernando Parra Nieto, and the Dean of the Faculty, Emilssen Gonz�lez de Cancino, were among some of the professors that guided her professional path.

After 20 years living abroad, Ms. Martinez visited the university campus, saw the new buildings, toured the colourful gardens, and met some of her former colleagues and professors who are still at the university.

Returning to the university is incredible. There is a sense of nostalgia, but at the same time of emotion, of seeing new things and that the university has evolved a lot. Whats more impressive is that although the buildings are new, there is something that makes one feel at home. They managed to capture the same spirit that one felt 20 years ago, affirmed Patricia.

After graduating as a lawyer, Patricia went on to study in Boston. It is there where she met her husband and, together, they moved to Mexico where they had two daughters. At present, she forms part of the Board of Directors of a Colombian company (UP Sistemas), which is a technology enterprise that was founded by her mother more than 30 years ago. It has approximately 1,000 staff members that depend on it.

For me and for my mum, its very satisfying to apply everything I learnt in my family company, which has been built single-handedly, and which offers something to the country, commented the lawyer.
