“Para la Universidad es muy importante que ustedes se comporten como personas de bien”: Néstor Osuna

Este 19 de enero el Secretario General, José Fernando Rubio, y el Director Académico, Néstor Osuna, ofrecieron una importante charla a los(as) estudiantes de primer semestre sobre la importancia de la ética profesional y la autonomía del sujeto.

Durante el encuentro, el Dr. Osuna destacó la formación humanística e interdisciplinaria que ofrece el Externado a sus estudiantes: “buscamos formar ciudadanas y ciudadanos ejemplares, que se comportan bien consigo mismos, con su entorno, sus compañeros, sus familiares y con la sociedad”.

El director académico resaltó además que, para la Universidad, es muy importante que sus estudiantes sean personas de bien, solidarias, correctas, virtuosas y que no hacen trampa.

“Y no hacen trampa porque tienen todas esas herramientas culturales, profesionales y lingüísticas, para solventarse por sí mismos. El llamado es a que sientan que la Universidad les ofrece algo y que ustedes tienen la capacidad de tomarlo para poder prescindir del fraude, de la trampa y de la deshonestidad”, concluyó el Dr. Osuna.

En la misma línea, el secretario general, José Fernando Rubio, afirmó que en el Externado “queremos y creemos en sujetos autónomos, capaces de equivocarse, que aceptan sus errores, asumen sus propias ideas y las construyen sin miedo, las conversan, las discuten, pero que no se hacen dueños ni gestores de las ideas de los otros”.

El Dr. Rubio también resaltó que la Universidad le apuesta profundamente a la autonomía de los sujetos: “Ustedes vinieron acá a crearse como sujeto, eso quiere decir, a respetar las ideas ajenas, pero sobre todo a construir las propias”.

En el conversatorio también se hizo una presentación de la Secretaría General, las Secretarías Académicas de las diferentes facultades, el nuevo Centro de Idiomas de la Universidad y la Unidad de Género, con el fin de que los(as) estudiantes conocieran el funcionamiento interno de su nueva Casa de Estudios.

‘’For the University it is very important that you behave as honorable people’’: Néstor Osuna

This January, 19th, the Secretary General, José Fernando Rubio, and the Academic Director, Néstor Osuna, held an important talk on the importance of professional ethics and with first semester students and individual autonomy.

During the event, Dr. Osuna highlighted the human and interdisciplinary element that the Externado offers its students: Ñ’We seek to form exemplary citizens, who behave well among themselves, in their environment, with their companions, their families and with societyÒ’.

The academic director also highlighted that, for the University, it is very important that its students were honorable, supportive, correct, virtuous and that they don’t cheat.

‘’And don’t cheat because you have all the cultural, professional and linguistic tools to remedy things for yourselves. The call is that you feel that the University offers you something and that you have the capacity to take it in order to renounce fraud, trickery, and dishonesty’’.

By the same token, the Secretary General, José Fernando Rubio, asserted that in the Externado: ‘’we want and we believe in autonomous individuals, capable of making mistakes, assuming their own ideas, as well as constructing and discussing them without fear.

Dr. Rubio also highlighted that the University considers individual autonomy  to be paramount: ‘’You came here to grow as individuals; this means respecting new ideas, but especially  constructing your own’’.

During the talk the Secretary General introduced the Academic Secretaries of the different faculties, the UniversityÂ’s new Language Centre and the Gender Unit, so that the students could get to know the internal workings of their new House of Studies.
