Docente de Comunicación Social – Periodismo del Externado gana beca de creación artística del Ministerio de Cultura

El docente y fotógrafo profesional, Gabriel Rojas, resultó ganador de la iniciativa “Desarrollo de proyectos de creación artística para artistas con trayectoria”, impulsada por el Ministerio de Cultura de Colombia, con el fin de apoyar proyectos realizados en el campo de las artes plásticas y visuales.

El docente del área de Fotografía la Facultad de Comunicación Social – Periodismo ganó este incentivo por su trabajo titulado «La Díez», un proyecto que consta de dos ejes: uno pedagógico y otro creativo. Busca visibilizar la memoria y la identidad del barrio a través de sus habitantes, con narrativas diferentes sobre su cotidianidad, por medio de la fotografía, para dejar una huella que se pueda replicar con el paso del tiempo, por medio de la realización de procesos de creación colaborativos.

“He tratado que en mis procesos académicos haya un componente humano y que los estudiantes conozcan realidades a partir de la fotografía, que puedan, más allá de lo técnico apropiarse de un lenguaje y contar historias, con este propósito se adelantan las estrategias y productos realizados en clase. De estas experiencias en proyectos personales y en la docencia nace La Díez, un proyecto que se plantea como una posibilidad de que diferentes comunidades hagan memoria de sus procesos y su historia”, afirma Gabriel.

Sobre la importancia de este premio para su carrera, destacó: “Para mí es una gran alegría porque desde el tiempo que entre a la Universidad Externado como docente, nunca he dejado de lado mis procesos creativos. De hecho, pienso que mezclarlos es clave para aprender y enseñar. Como profesional es importante ganar un reconocimiento en donde se tiene en cuenta la trayectoria, es un estímulo para seguir acercando los procesos propios y compartirlos con más personas y comunidades más allá de la academia”.

Gabriel Rojas es fotógrafo y diseñador gráfico; y es docente de la asignatura Fotografía del área de Lenguajes y Producción en la Facultad de Comunicación Social – Periodismo del Externado. Además ha sido premiado por la World of Photography – WOOPHY con el trabajo “Qué es noticia para ti?, obtuvo el primer puesto de Reportería Gráfica: Un día en la vida del patrimonio cultural de Bogotá, del IDPC, fue ganador de la beca para proyectos editoriales independientes en el 45 Salón Nacional de Artistas, y de una beca del XVII Salón Regional de Artistas por su foto-libro en homenaje al barrio Egipto.

Externado Social Communication – Journalism professor wins artistic creation grant from the Ministry of Culture

The teacher and professional photographer, Gabriel Rojas, was the winner of the initiative "Development of artistic creation projects for artists with trajectory", promoted by the Ministry of Culture of Colombia, in order to support projects in the field of visual and plastic arts.

The teacher of the Photography area of the School of Social Communication – Journalism won this incentive for his work entitled «La Diez», a project that consists of two axes: one pedagogical and the other creative. It seeks to make visible the memory and identity of the neighborhood through its inhabitants, with different narratives about their daily lives, through photography, to leave a trace that can be replicated over time, through the realization of collaborative creation processes.

«I have tried to ensure that in my academic processes there is a human component and that students learn about realities through photography, that they can, beyond the technical aspects, appropriate a language and tell stories, with this purpose in mind, the strategies and products made in class are developed. From these experiences in personal projects and in teaching, La Diez was born, a project that is proposed as a possibility for different communities to make memory of their processes and their history,» says Gabriel.

On the importance of this award for his career, he said: «For me it is a great joy because since I joined the Universidad Externado as a teacher, I have never left aside my creative processes. In fact, I think that mixing them is key to learning and teaching. As a professional, it is important to win a recognition where the trajectory is taken into account, it is a stimulus to continue bringing my own processes closer and sharing them with more people and communities beyond the academy».

Gabriel Rojas is a photographer and graphic designer; and teaches the subject Photography in the area of Languages and Production at the School of Social Communication – Journalism of the Universidad Externado. He has also been awarded by the World of Photography – WOOPHY with the work «What is news for you?», won first place in Graphic Reportage: A day in the life of the cultural heritage of Bogota, IDPC, was winner of the scholarship for independent editorial projects in the 45th National Exhibition of Artists, and a scholarship from the XVII Regional Exhibition of Artists for his photo-book in tribute to the Egipto neighborhood.
